Robert Rommel will be offering a “Wildlife Photography” workshop from October 16-18, 2020. It will be limited to 8 participants at a cost of $225/ per person, which will include lunch both days. It is recommended that you have at least a 300 mm lens for a crop sensor, or a 400 mm lens for a full frame camera (zoom or fixed) to get maximum benefit from the workshop.
Additional details regarding Robert Rommel's Wildlife Workshop:
After you have signed up, Robert will ask you to provide a 20 photos so that he can assess your skill level. On Friday evening, immediately prior to the first day of shooting, Robert will host a Zoom meeting to go over the upcoming shoot and to make some equipment suggestions. The likely locations for the field portion fo the workshop are Bear Island WMA and Donnelley WMA. However, Robert will be assessing those areas prior to the shoot and make changes if necessary. There is no value in going to an area if no wildlife is present.
The morning shoots will begin at roughly 7:00 AM and go to about 10:30 AM. Evening Shoots will begin at about 4:30 PM and go to around 7:30 PM. Anticipated wildlife subjects are Wading Birds, Birds of Prey, Shorebirds, Waterfowl, Butterflies, Alligators, Lizards, Crabs. Classroom sessions will be held at the Digital Corridor in Beaufort and run from approx. 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM with lunch included. Lecture topics may include lighting, depth of field, composition, sharpness, wildlife in action, and/or getting close based on input from the group. Each day will have a portfolio review. You may cancel with a full refund until September 15, 2020. There will be no refunds after that date. If the workshop is cancelled, for any reason, a full refund will be given (an alternate date may be substituted, if necessary). Checks should be made out to The Photography Club of Beaufort and addressed to the club at PO Box 4835, Beaufort, SC 29903. Please include "PCoB Fall Workshop" in the memo section of your check.
Robert Rommel is an award-winning fine art nature photographer based out of the South Carolina Lowcountry. He has been a lover of wildlife and nature since his childhood days and enjoys sharing this passion with photographers of all levels. Robert has been proud to teach photography to students ranging from the novice to the professional level for nearly 10 years.
